Academic Skills Advice

The Academic Skills team are dedicated to supporting students throughout their assignments.
‘Academic work should be challenging, not make you suffer! Seeking support is a strength’ – Rushna Ali-Sadler, Academic Skills Advisor.

About the team

We offer support through one-to-ones, workshops, lectures and a wide range of resources to help you achieve your best throughout your learning journey.

We can support any undergraduate or taught postgraduate student at the university at any point of their degree. We can help you to reflect on how to develop and give you constructive guidance on how to become a more confident academic.

Becoming an academic is a rewarding and challenging process, but not one that you should ever feel alone in. Whether you are receiving support from us, or from any of the other the support services that we work with, you can be sure that we can offer you the support you need.

We have collaborated on the StepUP Undergraduate and StepUP Postgraduate materials which function as a great starting point in your studies.

I have been given excellent support by the academic skills team. Never once was I given the impression I couldn't make the mark. On the contrary, I have been encouraged onwards, and have learnt a lot.
