Usernames and Passwords

When you join the University, an IT account will be created for you with a unique username. You must activate your IT account to create a password and also a 4-digit PIN.

The username and password are the details you'll need to log in to most University IT services.

Upon employment at the University, an IT account will be created for you and you will receive a unique username and a 4-digit security code. Use the security code to activate your IT account and to create a password.

  • The format of your username will differ, depending on the service you are accessing.
  • You also have a Novell account, used to log in to staff PCs and to access G: and H: drives and Faculty or Departmental networks.
  • You can set a new password if you forget it.

Password security

  • Change your password frequently for security reasons. Be aware that changing your University password will also change your Novell and Departmental / Faculty network password.
  • Never give your password to anyone.
  • We will never ask you to confirm your username and password by email. Any emails requesting these details are malicious spam emails intended to steal your account. Please delete such emails without responding.
