We have well-equipped teaching areas designed for profession specific OT education. These include a 'home from home' room and an arts and crafts suite.
Arts and crafts suite
The Arts and Craft Suite provides opportunities for students to use a variety of therapeutic media within their learning experiences to promote understanding of engagement in activities, and to develop a portfolio of creative media activities.
The room also contains splinting equipment and provides further opportunities for students to develop practical professional specific skills.
Home from home room
This room has a working kitchen, a bedroom and non plumbed bathroom to allow a variety of activities to take place to develop students' understanding of barriers within environments. It also helps students to understand the role of an Occupational Therapist empowering and supporting individuals, to enable them to live independently.
The room and facilities also support enquiry and team based learning, with a number of circular tables to promote discussions and activities within the taught sessions.
Students are supported in their learning with the use of electronic devices such as iPads within the taught sessions. All Occupational Therapy rooms are Wi-Fi enabled. The room also has equipment for recording activities which can be useful for activity analysis and providing feedback on practical sessions.
