Esmeralda's story
Esmeralda Hajdinaj’s intrinsic motivation in life has been to transcend sociocultural boundaries in order to cultivate a more peaceful, just, and secure society which respects the rights and dignity of all people; these values have served as the foundational principles that have shaped her lifelong pursuits. Her interests centre on peace and development studies, conflict resolution, international education, human rights policy and practice, and the sustained advocacy of vulnerable, marginalised, and displaced communities.
Her own immigrant upbringing and enriching experience living, studying, and working in multicultural environments inherently inspired her commitment towards global peacebuilding and camaraderie — whether through her work and research as an English-language instructor during her formative Fulbright Fellowship in a post-conflict region; as a Peace Fellow striving to develop consensus through international mediations in response to public policy; or in her previous role as a community organiser with municipal government, whereby she served a range of diverse and underserved communities across her city.
Esmeralda aspires to leave a legacy of trust and compassion in the face of socio-political adversity, and to create profound lasting institutional relationships and intercultural academic exchanges that inspire greater cooperation, understanding, and empathy between us through shared dialogue and collective action. She believes our societies are often a reflection of our hearts and minds, they mirror our values in action – for our lives are profoundly connected through the common thread of humanity which binds us all in pursuit of becoming champions of a more just, prosperous, and peaceful world.
