Internal Communications

Good communications and engagement is central to the smooth running of any large organisation and to the welfare of its staff and students. It is the job of the Internal Communications & Engagement Officer to facilitate and support this.

We keep students and staff informed throughout the year via weekly briefings, publications on the internal home pages and plasma screens, social media and by working closely with the Students’ Union.

We aim not just to solely communicate and inform, but also to engage our staff and students. To engage enables staff and students to feel ownership of the institution they work and study at, with the ability to advise, recommend and have a say in its running and direction. We want our staff to feel valued at the University and enjoy their time here.

In this section you will be able to see all the different channels of internal communication that can be utilised, the audiences they reach and the process in which they can be communicated.

There are two members of the Communications Team involved in internal communications, Martin Flegg and Sam Butterworth.

Martin Flegg is the Internal Communications Advisor and has been appointed to help support the Bradford Excellence Programme. Martin will work directly with the Strategic Development Group and work stream leads to ensure the communications and engagement activity concerning the different work loads are effective.

Sam Butterworth is the Internal Communications & Engagement Officer and supports the University in developing and implementing internal communication strategies involving awareness raising campaigns, event advertising and the launch of different initiatives across both campuses to staff and students.
