Drawing on three research studies, the presentation examines the impact of case-based learning, student engagement, and digital tools on student success. The research demonstrates how educational technologies such as Sage 50 Payroll can enhance understanding, motivation, and practical skills when combined with effective instructional design. It also highlights the importance of class attendance and active participation as key drivers of academic achievement, while identifying challenges faced by international students. In addition, the findings show that experiential, technology-supported learning can significantly improve students’ ability to apply knowledge to real-world taxation problems.

Dr Majid Aminzare is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Bradford School of Management.
He has extensive experience in accounting education, taxation, financial reporting, and digital accounting systems. His research focuses on accounting education, technology-enhanced learning, taxation pedagogy, and the impact of digitalisation on student learning outcomes.
