The Breakfast Table

Pull up a chair, enjoy a healthy breakfast and feel energised with the University of Bradford's new series 'The Breakfast Table.' A place to explore, share and discuss new and innovative ideas relating to some of the most important topics affecting your work.

At each Breakfast Table you will be joined by two experts giving their perspective on the topic: one an academic at the University and one straight from industry. You will then be able to join the conversation, delve deeper into the subject with the speakers, and explore ways to put your discussions in to practice at your organisation or working with partners in the room.

We are diverse

Date: Postponed

Venue: University of Bradford

Due to the General Election our industry speaker, Mark Lomas, is unable to make public speeches and so unfortunately we have had to make the decision to postpone this Friday’s Breakfast Table. We are disappointed as we were looking forward to hearing from Mark and the discussions that will have followed. We will now explore dates for this event to be held in the New Year. Thank you for your interest and we hope you will be able to join us at future events.

Equality and diversity affects everyone in an organisation whether you recruit staff, create products or deliver services. The University of Bradford has identified Equality and Diversity as one of our key strategic themes underpinning all our decisions from course content to recruitment, research projects to corporate partnerships and everything in between. We are proud of the impact we have had so far however, like many organisations, we are always looking for ways to improve.

Chaired by Mark Garratt, Director of External Affairs and #HeForShe campaigner, this Breakfast Table will look at two different examples of how equality and diversity can be embedded in an organisation and will explore where there are opportunities for us all to do things differently.

From the University: Professor Udy Archibong is the University’s Director of Equality and Diversity. An award winning thought leader in inclusion and diversity, Udy provides strategic oversight across the University and is a regular speaker at conferences in the private, public and third sector organisations around the world.

Straight from Industry: Mark Lomas, Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at HS2,  has delivered numerous diversity and inclusion projects for organisations, including The Financial Reporting Council, Groupama Insurance, The BBC, The Law Society, Sheffield University, NHS Clinical Commissioning Group Boards, ITV, and The Bermuda Human Rights Commission. Currently working at HS2 he is ensuring the organisation is disability confident and that rail becomes more accessible for thousands of users.
