ID Cards

All members of staff are required to hold on their person, and clearly display, their University staff ID card at all times when on campus. Staff cards can be worn on a lanyard or clip, and a 'common sense approach' should be taken by staff working in areas where a card lanyard may present a health and safety risk (e.g. laboratories). Line managers are responsible for monitoring and addressing cases where a staff member fails to do so. In addition, the Security team have been issued with guidance which requires them to appropriately escalate repeated failures. Any misuse, alteration or fabrication of the card is also unacceptable. Cards are issued by staff at MyBradford - Student Services, Richmond Building.

Students need their ID card to give access to University buildings and the library. It is also used to register attendance at lectures/ seminars and it provides proof of identity. Cards are issued by staff at MyBradford - Student Services, Richmond Building.

Visitors & Contractors

Visitors and Contractors are issued with temporary visitor cards, who should sign-in and collect a card from one of the following places:

  • Reception, Richmond Building – the main issuing place on city campus.
  • Estates and Facilities, Phoenix North East Building, for their own visitors
  • Reception, Emm Lane Building (Management & Law Campus).

The Faculty of Health Studies will be able to issue visitor passes to their own visitors due to the high numbers involved.

Visitors also need to sign-out and return their card as they leave.

This is to enhance safety and security by providing a means of visual identification of people on campus. Staff should be aware that they must take reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety of their visitors, particularly that they are aware of evacuation procedures.
