Excellent Achievement in Outside-Broadcasting

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Brian Cantor, CBE has this week presented 24 awards recognising those who have made an outstanding contribution to the life of the University.

Within the School of Media, Design and Technology our fantastic Outside Broadcast (OB) Team has been praised, received an Excellent Achievement Certificate for their outstanding support for the community, providing knowledge transfer and extracurricular development for students.

Well done to Chris Hazell, Mat Overton and Steve Cummings, who form the heart of the OB team. The team’s hard work and dedication is gratefully received by our students, partners and the community at large.

Recent examples of their work include visits to Schools and Colleges, as well as more complex projects, such as the recent BBC Election Special; for which University of Bradford students were able to get really involved, operating half of the live cameras alongside BBC cameramen, running the autocue and acting as assistant floor managers.

Each of the Vice-Chancellor’s awards recognises work which achieved the overarching objectives of the new University Strategy:

  • Excellence
  • Internationalisation
  • Equality and diversity
  • Sustainability

The assessment panel, made up of staff and students, have said that they were impressed by the number, strength and overall quality of the field of nominations this year.
