Since launching our Outside Broadcasting facilities in July 2012, the OB truck has been busy working with students on numerous media productions. From filming Bradford City football matches to BBC Children in Need, the Outside Broadcasting Truck provides a professional learning environment for students, enhancing industry relevant skills, both as part of the course and through extra-curricular opportunities.
On board the truck there is every aspect you would find in a professional production facility, including a 20 channel HD vision mixer, 32 channel sound mixer, Instant replay server as well as an editing suite / commentary booth. Using five Sony HSC-300R studio cameras as well as radio cameras and ISO sources. The truck is also used as the production gallery for our Television Studio which provides a basis for when students start using the facility.
Students studying on our media courses will have the benefit of using the truck as a fun and creative environment for producing multi-camera drama, sport and other live television programming. Our Outside Broadcasting truck means we can work away from the campus to film events and productions around the region and beyond!
Students have filmed a range of high profile events, including Children in Need and a regional general election special for BBC ONE, Bradford City Football Club FA matches, International Professional Pool Association competitions, Bradford City Park events in association with Bradford Council, Great Central Railway steam galas, and our own graduation ceremonies at the University of Bradford.
The Outside Broadcasting Truck has offered an abundance of opportunities and here at the University of Bradford we continually work to build on its potential in providing a growing number of professional experiences in Outside Broadcasting in conjunction with industry professionals.
