Remember remember... to bring your sparklers

There's no shortage of 'ooh' and 'aah' events in Bradford this month, kicking off with the annual fireworks extravaganza.

Get yourself down to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue headquarters in Birkenshaw on Friday 4 November, for a family fireworks display, rides, and of course the all important bonfire. Gates open at 18:00, with the main display at 20:15. Meanwhile, firefighters are urging you to "play it safe by going to an organised bonfire and firework display", rather than having your own.

Jingle bells?

If you can't make it to a fireworks display at the start of the month, you need to put Saturday 19 November in your diary.

That's when the free Christmas Lights Spectacular takes place in City Park, with pyrotechnics, fireworks, street theatre and dance. Yes, it's still November, but it'll help you get in the spirit for buying (or making) all those presents.

Speaking of presents, you might find some at the Victorian Christmas Market, taking place at Bradford Industrial Museum on 19-20 November. You'll find more than 80 stalls, craft activities and carol singing.

And now for something completely different...

The Yorkshire Games Festival takes place from 9-13 November at the National Media Museum, where you can find out how to write for games, hear about the evolution of the adventure genre, find out how to promote your own game, and much more.

And as if all that wasn't enough you can go and see Mary Poppins - yes, MARY POPPINS!! - at the Alhambra this month.

Plus lots more...
