Bradford's long-awaited Westfield shopping centre The Broadway opened in November 2015, with more than 70 shops, restaurants and cafes. Just a 15 minute walk from City Campus, it has stores including Topshop, The Body Shop, Debenhams, Paperchase, H&M and Office.

There's also a retail park next to Forster Square train station with TK Maxx, Clarks, PC World and Next among others.

And as well as the big shopping centres, you'll also find lots of independent shops across the city centre, and a unique underground retail development is expected to open in 2016 - Sunbridge Wells will have "Victorian and contemporary" shops, restaurants and bars.

Waterstones Bradford. The Wool Exchange was built as a grand trading centre in the 19th century, when Bradford was the wool capital of the world. It now houses Waterstones, making it one of the most beautiful bookshops you'll set foot in. With regular events and a cafe, as well as a wide selection of books and gifts, it's a must-see destination in the city.

Our on-campus bookshop Blackwell's is in the Richmond Building Atrium, and has a good selection of academic and non-academic books, as well as gifts, cards and posters.

Out of the city centre you'll also find gems in Haworth, Ilkley and at Salts Mill in Saltaire.

There are lots of supermarkets of varying sizes in and around Bradford - some within walking distance of campus. As well as the usual suspects like Sainsbury's and Morrison's, there are also halal and oriental supermarkets in the city centre.

If you have access to a car, why not get a group of students together to go to the 24-hour Asda or Tesco?

You can also head to Kirkgate Market and Oastler Shopping Centre for fresh produce including fish, meat, fruit and vegetables.

For stocking up on things like bedding, cutlery and toilet brushes, you'll find Wilkinson's, M&S and Debenhams in the city centre. When you first arrive in Bradford you can also head to Ikea on a special trip organised by the Students' Union.
