DCM™ for Leading Practice Change
This four-day course supports participants to develop advanced leadership skills to enable the use of DCM™ to effectively change practice within health and social care organisations. Participants will be supported to use evidence-based reflection on their role in leading and managing change and promoting high quality, person-centred care.
By the end of this advanced DCM™ course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the strategic health and social care environment and the use of DCM™ to influence change within this context
- Deliver a DCM™ related service improvement utilising leadership, quality and change management approaches
- Use DCM™ to embed person-centred care across health and social care organisations, which can include a variety of client groups and a range of settings
- Use DCM™ to monitor and improve the quality of care practice and to prepare for regulation and inspection
- Ensure promotion of stakeholder involvement, including people with dementia and their families, in the DCM™ process
- Use best practice examples and research evidence to demonstrate the impact and effectiveness of DCM™
Attendance is a three-day block followed by a one-day follow-up, held at the University of Bradford.
In the first three days, the course will cover: leading change using DCM™, developing person-centred teams and using DCM™ to support change.
Between parts one and two of the course, participants will be expected to undertake a service improvement project, which will involve the use of DCM™. Participants will present their project to the rest of the group on the follow-up day to demonstrate their use of advanced mapping skills. Participants will also reflect on and plan for sustaining their person-centred service improvement.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a University of Bradford certificate of attendance.
Pre-requisites for attendance
- Be a University of Bradford approved DCM™ (Basic) User in Version 8.0
- Have carried out a minimum of three full cycles of DCM™, with one of these being within the past six months
- Be in a role that enables you to influence practice change within health and social care
