University of Hong Kong conducted a study on the behalf of the University of Bradford on DCM in residential and community settings of SAGE in September 2017. Below is the introduction to the study:
“The research project examined the effects of DCM on staff and on older Hong Kong Chinese using multiple sources of quantitative and qualitative data. Converging evidence from four separate studies suggests benefits of DCM in staff care values, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction, and in reducing challenging behaviours and maintaining quality of life in older persons. The study found supportive evidence with longitudinal data on the effect of DCM in reducing wandering, which may be related to the engagement of the person with dementia in meaningful activities as promoted in DCM.

Dementia Care Consultancy on:
The improvement of quality of life of residents with dementia is an important aim of nursing care. Person Centred Care refers to the individualisation of care and thereby contributes to quality of life. This key concept is particularly relevant in the care of residents with dementia in long term facilities. Dementia Care Mapping (DCM) is a tool for the implementation of Person Centred Care.
