The aim of this module is to critically discuss and analyse the concepts and methods used by businesses in their financing and investment decisions. The module will theoretically discuss how companies decide on their mix of debt and equity and how companies can raise finance. It will also equip students with in-depth knowledge in topics like sources of financing including leasing, working capital management; corporate governance; mergers and acquisitions; real options and financial distress.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

This module provides students with a critical understanding of the theories, processes, and practices of entrepreneurship and innovation, whether in new start-ups or within existing organisations. Through a blend of academic rigour and practical application, students will develop the knowledge and skills required to identify, evaluate, and develop new venture opportunities. The module adopts a learning by doing philosophy, requiring students to work in teams to ideate and present a venture concept, mirroring the real-world journey of entrepreneurial founders and 'innovators' within organisations.

Cross Cultural Management

1. The module aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the influence of cross-cultural differences on management practices in organisations engaged in cross-frontier business activities.

2. The module seeks to equip you to be able to identify and manage problems and issues arising from cross-cultural differences.

3. The module aims to assess the problems arising from cross-cultural differences for the formulation and implementation of business ethics and CSR policies by multinational corporations.

Corporate Social Responsibility

1. To develop your theoretical understanding of organisational activities and the complexities that arise in the management of sustainability, business ethics, and CSR as a consequence of the interrelationships that exist between them.

2. Develop your competence in a range of analytical and personal skills to enable you to make an effective and immediate contribution to the performance of an organisation in terms of sustainability, business ethics, and CSR.

3. Develop your critical awareness of the current issues affecting sustainability, business ethics, and CSR.

International Masters Summer School

To draw your attention to contemporary issues relating to sustainability and the circular economy faced by businesses internationally and introduce you to innovative ideas that are used by organisations to become more sustainable. To further develop your skills in communication, critical analysis, negotiation, leadership and presentation in an international context. The business simulation focus on sustainable development will assist you in developing an understanding of the principles and processes of strategy formulation & the ability to identify the inter-relatedness of international business functions as well as business challenges caused by resource constraints internally and externally in an eco-social environment globally.

Business Economics

This module aims to provide students with a sound understanding of key economic concepts relevant to household and firm level decision making, as well as government policy making. It aims to provide an overview of core economic concepts of relevance to the overall economy (macroeconomy), which impact on individuals, firms and other economic actors. A range of applications and illustrations aim to provide students with a feel for key factors influencing 'real world' decision making, as well as an appreciation of economic factors which have a profound impact on the overall macroeconomy.

Global Technology and Innovation Management

This module aims to provide you with an understanding of the core issues in the management of current and future technologies and innovations by exploring and understanding the management and ethical impact of these changes in technology on organisations and society. In particular the module provides students with the opportunity to explore current and future issues related to technological developments and innovations that are important to the sustainability and management of organisations and the impact on society.

Human Resource Development

This module aims to promote a critical understanding of the systemic nature of skills and expertise, and their importance and use in the workplace. It focuses on Human Resource Development (HRD), leadership development coaching and allows students to develop understanding of the way in which 'skill' is conceptualised and understood in the workplace.

Students are expected to develop critical awareness of the importance of skill development and the factors which shape HRD within diverse organisational and institutional contexts, and develop understanding of the critical role of HRD as an integral part of the overall performance management of organisations.

MSc Dissertation

To provide you with knowledge/skills to: 1. carry out a project that investigates in depth a management issue, based on knowledge/experience gained in the taught modules;2. critically evaluate and synthesise relevant ideas, approaches, theories and models of management, and gain appreciation of practical issues faced by managers; 3. use project management skills, from scoping to delivery; 4. utilise literature relating to your topic, to develop appropriate questions and evidence-based answers.

Marketing Planning and Strategy

1. To provide a critical evaluation of the concepts and principles of marketing and their applications.

2. To enable you to assess marketing issues and dilemmas as they relate to corporate decision-making.

3. Recognise current and past marketing practices and relate to theoretical understanding acquired.

4. Illustrate understanding of theories learnt in resolving contemporary marketing challenges.

The module aims to help you to gain an understanding of key areas of operations management. It highlights how operations is at the heart of all enterprises and demonstrates some of the major elements concerned with the production of goods and services and how they are shaped in today's organisations through effective operations management. Unless this core function is carried out effectively there is little hope that the rest of the organisation as a whole can be effective.

Strategic Management

Organisations face increasing environmental uncertainty with shortening product and technology life cycles and increasing competition. Managers need to develop an understanding of their organisation's industry structure, and think creatively in formulating and implementing their strategies to ensure their organisation's success in its industry. This module will extend students' knowledge and understanding of strategic management and strategic issues. It will introduce a range of contemporary issues associated with the formulation and implementation of corporate and business strategies with an emphasis on identifying and implementing strategic change within the organisation, building dynamic capabilities and developing coherent strategies.
