Entry requirements

Individuals applying for the programme must have 8 years leadership/management experience, or have a good first degree awarded by a UK university or overseas equivalent with 3 years professional experience from private, public sector or the 3rd sector.  This is considered on a case by case basis.

Numeracy and literacy competencies

We will require evidence of numeracy and literacy competencies, and you may be required to complete an authorised online aptitude test such as the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or School equivalent: The Bradford Test.

Apprentices must achieve English and Maths GCSE at grade C/4 or above, or Level 2 Functional Skills, before taking the End Point Assessment. If you don't have the required GCSEs (or equivalent qualification) you may be asked to take tests in English and Maths.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language, we may need evidence of your proficiency in English through a recognised test (IELTSTOEFL or PTE-A). You will be required to achieve a minimum score of:

  • IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no sub-test less than 5.5; or
  • Internet-based TOEFL:
    • For EU, non-UK applicants: 90 overall, with minimum scores of: Listening – 17, Reading – 18, Speaking 20, Writing – 17
    • For International, non-UK/EU, applicants (UKBA requirement): 90 overall, with minimum scores of: Listening – 21, Reading – 22, Speaking – 23, Writing – 21; or
  • PTE-A (Pearson Test of English Academic): 60 overall, with no sub-test less than 51

Learning and assessment

The programme is based on a blended learning model. Students are required to engage in self-directed learning, through consulting module study books and online resources before the delivery of the module.

Classroom sessions will allow students to revisit/reinforce their understanding of key theories and ideas, and to analyse and evaluate organisational and situational cases against taught theory. During classroom sessions, students will be expected to undertake personal research, work in groups, manage and coordinate team activities, and develop and communicate solutions based on sound analysis and logical argument using a range of media.

Students will later attend a series of online tutorials, where they will have the opportunity to discuss the specific theories and concepts with their module leader and fellow students.

Each module is assessed individually, using strategies based on the nature of the module's learning outcomes.

Assessment will typically require students to demonstrate an understanding of key managerial theories and concepts, and an ability to apply critically and creatively the various theories and frameworks to organisations and/or case-based scenarios.

All written assignments are submitted for evaluation through Turnitin - a facility within the institutional VLE.
