Summer Experience internship at Girlington Community Centre

What was the interview process like for this role?

The Interview process was quite rigorous, I had to answer a series of questions and was then given a 20-minute task, which included writing an advice letter. Regardless of the internship, this alone was a great experience. Most definitely feels that this will help me in future interview processes.

Can you tell me about your work experience?

The placement is great as it is linked to my degree. Within one of my university modules, we look at ‘advise case studies’. Doing this in person is completely different. When you have someone in front of you, you must be sensitive to people’s needs/ their situation. I have been supporting people where there has been a language barrier, thus I have learnt patience/calmness and developed communication.

I’ve also Learnt how to use an internal data base system. And been given the opportunity to complete a level 2 mental health course: certificate in understanding mental health first Aid and mental health advocacy in the workplace

Would you recommend the summer experience internship programme?

Definitely! I Would encourage other students to apply for a summer experience internship, the process was easy and skills I am gaining are priceless.
