Were you always interested in attending university? 

Yes, It was like a childhood dream. The 15 year old in me was dancing the day I graduated. 

Why did you choose the University of Bradford? 

I wanted to do course in business and management from a university with ranking in business studies. So when I started looking for universities that were affordable for me and had good ranking in business studies, I came across University of Bradford  website and started looking. Found out that about accreditations, ranking, and reviews. Straight on applied! 

Can you tell me about your work experience?

My 10 week internship with Lloyds have been amazing. I learned a lot about how to put the theory you learn about in University into perspective. I have witnessed multiple digital marketing campaigns from the start to when they go live, and it’s quite fascinating to know how much work is put into things we consider ordinary as customers. 

What the application process was like? 

It was quite clear about how to apply and where to ask help from. I got to know about internship in one of my lectures and then straight away applied through career services. There was help for CV and Cover letter writing as well as preparing for Interviews. I’m glad I got the support we all wish for when it comes to applying for the first time. 

Did you face any challenges in your career journey so far?

Now that my internship with Lloyds is ending, I’m on my way to finding a full time job role in marketing. Kind of confused of where to start, but I’m sure I’ll get the support needed. 

Why do you think it is important to get work experience during university?

I think it’s very important to have access to an environment where you practice what you learn. It strengthens your base, and opens doors for more learning and creativity. 

What advice would you give our current students and graduates based on your experiences?

The most important thing is to never underestimate yourself. Always believe in your capabilities, sometimes you surprise yourself. Jump into any opportunities that interest you, ask questions and speak up, step out of your comfort zones and try new things. You learn about yourself everyday.
