New Year Party
Hopefully you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Now that the dust has settled and we all try and get ourselves back into 'work mode', we in BUStA are keen to make the return to work as painless as possible with our legendary New Year Party, the perfect antidote to those post-festivities blues.
This year's extravaganza is on Friday 29 January. There will be the usual fun and frolics, buffet and beverages, and remember this is all free to members. Your guests are welcome for a bargain price of £5, but why not encourage them to join BUStA anyway? You know it makes sense!
Oates Brewery visit
Our next social event is a visit to the Oates Brewery in Halifax for a short tour of their craft brewery on Thursday 26 November.
For the modest cost of just £10 for members (£12 for guests) you will be treated to the tour, two pints of craft ale, and a cold buffet, as well as transportation to and from the University.
We leave the University from Gt Horton Road entrance at 17:30 for the short journey to Halifax, with time for a drink or two before we start the tour at around 7pm. Following our visit we will head back to Bradford at around 21:30, to arrive back at the University around 22:00.
Places are limited and with just a couple of weeks to go you are advised to contact us as soon as possible to reserve your place.
Please note that:
- we require full payment to confirm your place; payment can be made to Paula Burnett in ITC (x5016), Sam Rushworth in FoHS (x5726), or Doreen Foster in Estates (x6620).
- in order to keep the cost to members at an affordable level this is a BUStA subsidised event. Unfortunately refunds can only be considered if a booked place can be resold.
We have a brand new Vax carpet cleaner available for hire at a remarkably reasonable £10 for a weekend or midweek period (you just provide the shampoo).
BUStA went boozing!
Thank you to all who joined BUStA on this event – it proved to be a very successful visit, with nearly 40 people attending. A special mention must go to Sam who's sterling efforts in making sure everyone got their beer tokens and that food was shipped out as it emerged from the kitchen were much appreciated.
Thanks must also go to Andy Dyson for his part in researching possible breweries (it's a tough job ...). The brief tour of the brewing plant was long enough to inform but short enough to keep us interested, with the added frisson of "don’t step on that hatch!" which is a challenge with a few ales inside one. Fortunately we never discovered the consequences of doing so which I suspect may well have been catastrophic.
Hopefully everyone enjoyed the event and there weren't too many sore heads the following day!
Just a quick reminder that the coach will leave the Great Horton Road entrance opposite Sainsbury’s at 09:00 on Saturday 25 July and will then leave Scarborough at 18:30 prompt. There are no parking restrictions on Campus at the weekend, so you will be able to use the car park. Richmond Building main entrance will be on card access, so remember to bring your card if you want to enter the building, although the Great Horton Road entrance will locked and cards will not open these doors.
