Hi, I'm Jubeda, and I'm a BEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering student in my third year.

I'd like to share my experiences of going on trips with the Students’ Union. The best thing about uni life is the experience you gain and the memories you make. Nothing makes a lasting memory like going on a trip with the friends you've made at university.

Places I've been with the Students' Union

The University of Bradford Union of Students (SU) organises trips every month and offers students the chance to visit different parts of the UK. So far, I've been to London, Whitby, and Scarborough.

The London Eye on Tower Bridge.

Aside from these trips, the SU also hosts well-being walks, which involve a small hike to a nearby spot. They're great for enjoying the outdoors and connecting with new people. I've been on countless trails; some of the most memorable have been the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, Knaresborough, and Chellow Dene.

Every time I take part in a hike, I enjoy myself immensely. Truly, there is nothing like taking your mind off exam stress and going to a scenic place. They really help to avoid some of the monotony that can become part of a student’s life. I always take lots of photos, and now and again I'll look through my album to relive the memories.

What have been some of my highlights?

My first trip was to London, a city that truly never disappoints. I made some friends on the bus ride, and we decided to explore the city together, seeing the Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Big Ben, and so much more.

Next time, I went to the beautiful seaside town of Whitby. It was a gorgeous day, and that made the trip to the seaside all the more fun. I got to ride a boat, hike the cliff, and have a picnic on the beach. The old castle ruins of Whitby Abbey were also fun to explore.

Lastly, let me tell you about Scarborough, the place with the best fish and chips I've ever had. They were so flavourful, and hit the spot for a slightly cloudy day by the sea. My friends and I challenged each other to build rock towers, and not to brag, but I won.

I was lucky enough to take a Ferris wheel ride by the sea. Something about it hits different, but it was so cold! Nevertheless, the fun I had can’t be described in words.

Really, all this is to say, don't miss the chance to explore these fun places with your friends. Go on trips whenever you get the chance.

Ready for adventure?

Explore. Discover. Experience.

Grab your friends and visit the UK with the University of Bradford Union of Students' day trips.
