Oshan explores the best food, drink, and social spots on the University of Bradford campus. She shares some hidden gems to help you unwind and connect.
Hi, I'm Oshan. I'm an international student, currently pursuing a degree in BSc (Hons) Computer Science at Bradford. There are loads of places to eat, drink and socialise on campus, and I'd like to share my favourite spots with you.
An aesthetic corner
Theatre in the Mill is one of the places that always attracted me whenever I looked in that direction. Located next to the Phoenix Building and in the heart of the Amp, this small yet meaningful building is surrounded by lush green trees, giving it an aesthetic vibe.
I've visited a couple of times, mostly to sit and have some time to myself while enjoying the café and menu. Sometimes, the crochet society will have its regular sessions there!
Aside from its cute café, Theatre in the Mill is famous for screening conferences, various movies and theatre plays.

Food crawl around campus
There's no need to worry if you're craving something to eat; the campus has you covered with plenty of food options available.
Starting in the Richmond building, you can choose from different food and drink options, ranging from snacks to full meals. We have the famous Costa Coffee, CURB Chicken and Richmond Eatery. There's something for everyone regardless of your dietary requirements.
The next food spot we have on our hunt is Brew and Co Kitchen in SCO2, Student Central. It's recently opened and provides a wide range of food options along with non-alcoholic drinks and ice cream. It's great for relaxing with your friends in the cosy sitting spaces or playing games in the arcade. My go to meal choice from Brew and Co Kitchen would always be loaded fries and garlic bread.
You can also grab quick snacks from Morrisons Daily, which is in both Student Central and the Richmond Atrium.

Take a moment and relax
There are numerous social spaces around campus where you can meet up with your friends or just relax. A few of the spaces are in Richmond, Horton D, Pemberton, outside the library and inside Student Central.
My favourite social space is the study area in Richmond, directly opposite the reception. It's fantastic for meeting up with friends or doing group work. There are seating areas provided for large groups, and in case you want to sit alone, or want to do self-study, there are around five giant solo sofa seats with a pretty view of The Green waiting for you.
Fancy a drink?
Nothing beats a nice drink after a hectic day at university!
You can always grab a drink at BelowOne bar after 4 PM. The bar also hosts numerous events, bar socials and club nights organised by different sports and societies. I always love to attend the Varsity after party, as well as Indian Society club nights.
The best part about the bars is that they have student offers and deals, so you lcan have fun without worrying about the prices. Below One and Escape Lounge give you two whole different vibes, the former resembling more of a laid-back bar feel while the latter has lively club night atmosphere vibes.

My advice would be to keep an eye out for things happening around the Uni. Instagram is a great tool for keeping up to date with Theatre in the Mill, University, Students' Union, and Sports and Societies, because. You deserve to have some fun beyond academics!
