The role of the External Examiner is to assist the University in discharging its responsibility for the quality and standards of the education it provides and of the awards made in its name. At least one External Examiner is appointed to act on behalf of the University for each programme.
Each External Examiner is required to submit a report annually to the Vice-Chancellor. This report will be made available to partners and their staff and students. It is the University’s responsibility in conjunction with the partner to respond to and act upon the matters raised by the External Examiner and to communicate with them about this.
For more information on the regulations and processes governing the nomination, approval and appointment of External Examiners see the External Examining section of the Academic Quality Handbook.
