Alumni at the University of Bradford
Welcome from the Vice-Chancellor
There are some defining moments in the life of any University, which means it will never be the same again. 2004-05 was a year when the University of Bradford defined its vision for the future. Despite the challenges of the Higher Education environment, our vision is bold and engenders a confidence which permeates through our staff and students alike.
In 2005, we embarked upon our most ambitious estates development plan. The University will invest close to £75 million over the next ten years in developing its teaching and learning facilities, campus improvements, and re-building main campus student accommodation. And, of course, we announced Imran Khan as our new Chancellor.
2006 is also a special year for us; we celebrate our 40th Anniversary as a University. To mark this occasion, the University is holding special lectures and seminars, and weekend events celebrating our achievements.
The city of Bradford and the region continue to move forward, with close to £2 billion to be invested into the region over the next ten years. The University will continue to play a key part in these development plans. The success of our region and city is interwoven with our success. There are many reasons to come and visit us, but there is no better time than 2006 to come and see us. The campus is alive with 'change'. It is through our values, our sense of direction, and mission of ‘Making Knowledge Work’ that we can build on our stature and confidence, and be ‘ready’ for the challenges that lie before us.
I am proud to be a part of these exciting developments. I hope that after reading The Braduate, you too will share my enthusiasm and excitement for our great University.
