Student Central

Home to the Students’ Union, the JB Priestley Library and MyBradford, Student Central plays a key role in the students' experience.

J.B. Priestley Library

Named after the Bradford-born novelist and playwright, our library was officially opened by J.B. Priestley and the University’s first Chancellor and former Prime Minister, Harold Wilson, on 18 October 1975. 50 years later it underwent a £1.6 million makeover, transforming the Study Hub into a modern group-learning space.

Special Collections

Special Collections houses nearly 200 collections of archives and rare books, including letters, photographs, artworks, and even J.B. Priestley's pipes. In 2014, Bradford became the first English university to achieve Accredited Archive Service status, officially recognising the care and dedication devoted to preserving these collections.

SC02

In 2024, the old Student Central bar was transformed into a vibrant social learning space. Designed with students in mind, it now offers a bubble tea and milkshake station, garden hideout, games zone, and the BelowOne bar.

The space’s innovative design earned it a finalist spot in the Fit Out Project of the Year – Hospitality category 2025.
