Sports Therapy with Jill Hague BSc (Hons) M.S.S.T
Jill has recently graduated from a Sports Therapy degree which covered injury assessment, rehabilitation and sports massage and is able to offer a range of treatments in all the above areas.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports Massage can be beneficial in several ways and can be used both pre- and post-exercise.
Pre-exercise massage comprises of fast movements to generate heat and increase blood flow to the muscles. This improves tissue pliability and, combined with stretching, has been seen to help reduce injury risk.
Post-exercise massage encourages venous and lymphatic drainage thereby improving the arterial blood flow and helps to reduce muscular tension and restore normal tissue condition. It is beneficial in the breakdown of muscular `knots'.
Scar tissue from previous injuries can lead to local or reffered problems and it has been seen frictions have a beneficial effect on the break down of this scar tissue and adhesions.
Jill has experience with teams such as the Huddersfield Giants RLFC as well as a number of local amateur clubs.
