Health and wellbeing is vital to the long-term prosperity of individuals and organisations. The BSc (Hons) in Health, Wellbeing and Social Care considers current practice and future directions for improving the health and wellbeing of the whole community. It identifies economic, social and environmental factors that influence our health, and emphasises the need for strategic initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of our community through partnerships between health, social care and other public, private and voluntary sector organisations.
If you already hold a Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Health and Social Care or other appropriate qualification, the one-year version of this course gives you the opportunity to study for a full-time or part-time top-up degree. Full-time students can complete the degree in one academic year, and part-time students in two academic years.
A wide range of learning and teaching methods are used on this course including lectures, seminars, group tutorials, workshops, virtual learning environments and directed study.
Assessment methods include written assignments, poster presentations, PowerPoint presentations and a dissertation (i.e. an independent systematic enquiry undertaken into an aspect of the student’s professional practice).
Previous graduates have found employment in a wide range of roles and settings including health promotion, health trainers, working with people with drug or alcohol addictions, Sure Start, working with sufferers of domestic violence, supporting people with mental health problems and voluntary organisations such as Barnardo's
