Our Associate Student Scheme is a way of returning to learning. You can try out a module first before committing to a course or to just enjoy a module of particular interest to you.
You can do this by enrolling as an Associate Student.
The Associate Student Scheme is an ideal way to take advantage of higher education at all academic levels. You may choose to study individual or groups of modules for interest or professional development.
If you see a module you are interested in studying, you can simply register on to it. Unlike applying for a degree award, where potential students have to apply and meet agreed entry standards; to join a module there are normally no such requirements.
You gain credit for all modules you pass and these can be used towards university awards.
The scheme allows you to study alongside existing degree students and gain credits for successful completion of individual modules. This credit may then be used to obtain advanced standing on an award bearing course or you can use it as evidence of your ability to study at degree level.
All Associate Students have access to the University's resources including the library and the virtual learning environment which provides valuable student support.
Associate students enrolling at undergraduate level do not necessarily require formal qualifications although some modules may have 'pre-requisites' which include prior qualifications or background knowledge.
In certain circumstances you may have to study two modules alongside each other. Lecturers will advise you on the individual modules offered by their department.
Please note, due to visa and border controls, the Associate Student Scheme is available to Home residents (UK/EU citizens) only.

There are also programmes you might want to take just for interest rather than to gain an academic qualification. If so, we hold a vibrant range of public programmes, Friday historical walks and Saturday Schools which are open to everybody to attend.
To find out more on what's coming soon please visit our Day Schools and Public Programmes pages on our Events Bradford website.
We also provide language teaching on our popular 'Languages for All' programme.
Available at various levels, you can study French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin or Japanese.
