Fees and Financial Support
Paying for your postgraduate education is a considerable investment. By taking this step you will distinguish yourself in your chosen career or research field.
Financial Help for UK/EU Applicants
Before you apply for many of the grants available you need to have been accepted on a course, but there is nothing to stop you gathering information in the first place. You should also indicate on your application if you are interested in available grants and we will send you more information.
The University of Bradford Postgraduate Bursary
The University offers a bursary to UK and EU postgraduate students on Master’s courses or a PhD programme of research.
To be eligible for the bursary you must have graduated from your undergraduate degree programme within the last five years, and have received a contribution towards your fees from your Local Authority in your final year of study or a means-tested maintenance grant or bursary if you started your degree in 2006 or later.
You will need to prove that you received this fee contribution, grant or bursary by providing a copy of your financial support notification or bursary letter. As an EU student you may be entitled to receive this bursary if you received a bursary during your undergraduate study in the UK.
The bursary is worth £500 and is paid in March provided that you are progressing satisfactorily on your course. For more information email pgbursaries@bradford.ac.uk or call 01274 236505.
Need to Know Information
The following information relates to payment terms for your chosen postgraduate study.
- All students paying fees in excess of £4,500 must pay 50% of their fee before or at enrolment.
- International students may pay the remaining balance in two or four instalments.
- Home/ EU students can pay in two or five instalments.
- For home/EU students paying fees of under £4,500, the fees are payable in three equal instalments (November, January and March) or five equal instalments (November-March).
- Fees are not normally returnable. If you are not self-financed you must produce documentary evidence, before you enrol, of a grant award or other financial sponsorship. A discount is offered if you are paying an annual tuition fee above £4,500 and are able to pay before or at enrolment. Full details of this can be found on our website at www.bradford.ac.uk/hub
- The University reserves the right to revise or add fees at any time without notice. The University will not allow you to register or continue in your studies, nor will it award you a degree, if you have not paid your fees.
- Students who are finalising their research thesis away from the University are charged £210 per year whilst writing-up is being completed. However, there is no fee for the submission of a thesis for the degree of Master or PhD.
- The fees for each course or research area are listed on the individual relevant course or research pages. Please note that these are the fees applicable for postgraduate courses for 2010/11. A small increase can be expected for 2011/12. See www.bradford.ac.uk/hub/tuitionfeesinformation
