Course Introduction

Our Pre-Master's Programme (Postgraduate Foundation Studies Certificate) in Economics is specifically designed from selected modules from the undergraduate programme in the Economics Division for students who already possess a degree in other subjects (e.g. sciences, engineering, management) at a level acceptable for entry to the Master's programme, but who need further preparation in quantitative, economic, business and financial analysis.

As recent world events have demonstrated, economics, business and finance is an exciting and important area of study. At the University of Bradford, we emphasise the practical and applied aspects of economics to help you best understand the world around us, with a focus on the impact of economic forces on people and businesses and the role of policy in shaping change.

Studying economics alongside business and finance provides a particular way of thinking about the world that develops your problem-solving and analytical skills. These are skills that are in high demand from employers. Our Pre-Master's Programme (Postgraduate Foundation Studies Certificate) in Economics locates the discipline within the real world, enabling you to use economics to analyse practical problems.

In addition to developing your subject knowledge, the Pre-Master's Programme (Postgraduate Foundation Studies Certificate) in Economics is designed to offer you a range of transferable skills, useful in a range of careers and situations beyond university once you have completed our Master's. As well as attending lecturers, seminars and workshops, students have the opportunity to experience hands-on computing, personal research and essay/report writing, case studies, data analysis, group work, individual projects and presentations.
