Course Introduction

The BSc (Hons) Clinical Nursing Practice is a flexible programme designed to enable qualified nurses who have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma to top up their studies to degree level.

It is designed in close collaboration with key stakeholders, to provide coherent undergraduate continuing professional development for qualified nurses contributing to health and social care delivery.

It enables students to develop higher levels of judgment, discretion and decision-making in care through their studies.

Teaching is provided by staff with specialist areas of expertise.

Course Syllabus

Modules 2011/12: (C) = Core, (O) = Option

BSc (Hons) in Clinical Nursing Practice

(Top-up course from Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Nursing)

Students with a Diploma will be required to study up to 120 Credits at Level 3:

  • Research Appreciation and Dissemination (30 Credits) (C)
  • Supporting Learning in Practice (30 Credits) (O)
  • At least 60 Credits from a range of clinically focused/specialist modules - these will be discussed at a study planning session with an academic following receipt of your application

Students with an Advanced Diploma will be required to study 60 Credits at Level 3:

  • Research Appreciation and Dissemination (30 Credits) (C)
  • Supporting Learning in Practice (30 Credits) (O)

  • Continuing professional development funding may be available for some modules and courses. Entry Requirements

  • You are only eligible to receive an award of BSc (Hons) Clinical Nursing Practice if you hold the relevant NMC registration and are currently practising
  • You should already have achieved a Diploma of Higher Education or an Advanced Diploma of Higher Education, Professional Qualification e.g. registration with the NMC

Level of English Required

IELTS at 6.5 or equivalent
