Message from Mark Cleary
Research Assessment Exercise

The University's reputation for high quality research has today been further strengthened by a strong performance in the national Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

The RAE is a leading measure of a University's research strengths and quality.

I am delighted with all the hard work of almost two-thirds of our academic staff, who were entered in the RAE. Out of those submitted to the assessment, eight out of ten were deemed to be producing research of 'international' and 'world-leading' quality.

Our students are being taught their courses by members of staff who are internationally recognised for research. We are committed to investing in research and we have focussed our efforts over the last seven years on areas that will give a high impact on the economy and the partner companies we are working with.

Best wishes,

Mark Cleary,
Vice-Chancellor
