Professor Sherif El-Khamisy appointed to prestigious REF 2029 panel
The University of Bradford is proud to announce that Professor Sherif El-Khamisy, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, has been appointed to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2029 Expert Panel, the UK’s national assessment of research quality and impact.
A world-renowned genetic scientist, Professor El-Khamisy is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in genome stability, DNA repair mechanisms and neurodegenerative disease. His appointment to the REF 2029 panel reflects not only his exceptional academic leadership but also the University’s growing reputation for research that addresses global challenges.

Research excellence
Professor El-Khamisy’s appointment follows a rigorous and open recruitment process led by the UK’s four higher education funding bodies. He joins a distinguished and diverse group of experts who will help define the criteria for assessing research excellence across disciplines, from medicine and engineering to the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
