University of Bradford experts work with Boots UK to develop groundbreaking new anti-ageing serum

No7 Lift & Luminate developed in conjunction with the University's Centre for Skin Sciences

A new No7 serum available exclusively at Boots stores, proven by one of the world's leading pigmentation experts to shrink and fade age spots, has been developed in conjunction with the University of Bradford's Centre for Skin Sciences.

No7 Lift & Luminate Day & Night Serum, available in Boots stores nationwide from 18 April 2012, is proven to tackle the three key signs of ageing – lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness and uneven pigmentation for 45+ skin.

Boots experts worked with Des Tobin, Professor of Cell Biology and Director of the Centre of Skin Sciences at the University of Bradford, to develop their unique formulation. Prof. Tobin and his team established in the lab setting how active ingredients derived from natural extracts may influence how the skin’s pigment-forming cells (melanocytes) communicate with other skin cells, to address ageing-associated skin pigmentation irregularities.

To ensure that the new serum met the high standards that women have come to expect from No7, a pioneering clinical trial was undertaken by the world leading expert in pigmentation, Professor Ortonne, Head of Dermatology at Hôpital L’Archet in Nice. The serums were tested against 4% Hydroquinone, commonly regarded by dermatologists as the gold standard topical treatment for hyper-pigmentation. In the breakthrough four month study, the No7 Lift & Luminate Day & Night Serum combination was clinically proven to lighten and shrink age spots from two months onwards; whilst dermatologist colour grading showed a reduction in 75% of volunteers after four months versus 78% for Hydroquinone, with cumulative benefits shown over time. This new clinical trial takes Boots’ understanding of skincare products one step further.

No7 Lift & Luminate Day & Night Serum combines the existing technology of No7 Protect & Perfect with a groundbreaking new formulation that is clinically proven to lighten and shrink age spots from two months onwards.

With proven solutions for women of all ages, No7 now has 3 clinically proven anti-ageing serums:

  • For women aged 25-35, No7 Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum addresses the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Whilst for those aged 35-45, No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum targets deeper lines and wrinkles
  •  For the first time, New No7 Lift & Luminate Day & Night Serum for women aged 45+ tackles lines and wrinkles, loss of firmness and uneven pigmentation

Dr Mike Bell, Scientific Skincare Advisor for Boots, said of the trial: “I believe this is the first time a product has been tested against 4% Hydroquinone  in a real usage setting to assess the benefits on age spots. Once again No7  is changing the face of anti-ageing providing clear proof and visible results in a widely available skincare product.”

No7 Lift & Luminate Day & Night Serum has been tested in more than 20 studies including three separate clinical trials and on over 1,200 women.
