Recruit a student on an 9-12 month work placement

What is a placement?

A work placement is a period of vocational training and experience that forms part of the student's academic pathway. It ensures that the student has an essential mix of both academic theory and practical skills and experience when they qualify.

The School of Management's four year undergraduate students spend the third year of their course on a business related work placement. This is an excellent opportunity for them to gain valuable experience that will enhance their employability and develop key skills relevant to the workplace.

Benefits to you

Employers benefit from a placement student who often will come to you with fresh ideas, a new approach and a real motivation to make an immediate contribution to your business.

It has also been proven to be an extremely cost effective way of managing a project or filling a resource gap and of course provides a possible future recruit.

Length of time and cost involved

The length of a work placement can be between 9 and 12 months starting between June and September each year.

Placement students are normally paid by the employing organisation.

Monitoring and assessment

Students complete set assignments and reports and their progress is monitored through a skills-based assessment completed by their workplace supervisors in consultation with a visiting tutor from the School of Management.
