Structure
Full-time
Your first year comprises 12 core law modules, including six in your first two foundation subjects, Contract Law and Public Law. Alongside these, modules on English Legal Systems, Foundations of European Union Law, Legal History, and Legal Skills give you a thorough grounding in the primary sources of 21st-century English and Welsh law.
In your second year, you study two modules in each of Criminal Law, EU Law, Land Law and the Law of Tort. There is also a module in Legal Research and your first opportunity to choose from a number of options.
In your third year, you study the final foundation subject, Equity and Trusts, and a module in legal philosophy, namely Jurisprudence. You choose the rest of your modules from a broad range of specialised topics in legal, socio-legal or business disciplines. You will also have the option of writing a dissertation. This enables you to explore in detail a topic that particularly interests you, and to develop your research skills even further.
Two single modules form part (1/12) of each of the first two years' core study. These modules - Practical Legal Skills and Career & Personal Development (Law) - are designed to link your academic study to your preparation for your future.
