Background / Bradford's Reputation
I'm Wayne Brown, I was born in Leeds, I'm a local man. I started my academic life really at age 21. I decided to go to University part-time, I joined Halifax Bank of Scotland a local organisation and worked there for seven years, until last year.
Then I decided that I'd take a career break from Halifax Bank of Scotland and come and do a MBA here at Bradford University. So I'm due back at Halifax Bank of Scotland very shortly to continue my line of work there.
My profession is marketing and business development, so I've been working across a range of sectors, banking, insurance and new product development across all sectors.
My Undergraduate degree had been part-time, I'd never really experienced being part of a full-time cohort. The other thing was really to test my professional capability, it's a professional degree at the end of the day and from the experience that I'd gathered and from my Undergraduate degree I wanted to take it to the next level up. I've certainly been tested and certainly been stretched and I'm really pleased that I did it.
Well certainly Bradford's got a great brand in terms of business school, it's one of the best business schools in England without question. And as someone who had to remain in West Yorkshire, I looked at all the schools across the North of England, there was no question for me that Bradford was the one. It's got a great reputation for teaching, it's got a great reputation for its research and certainly that's been evidenced in what I've experienced this year.
