Career prospects
Most Graduate Diploma in Law students plan to become a solicitor or barrister. We have strong links with the local and regional legal profession to provide you with a mentor working in legal practice and with opportunities for short work-placements and mini-pupillages. These links to legal practice will help you to develop useful connections to the legal network before you go on to the vocational stage of your training - the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Vocational Course at one of the regional or national providers.
As part of our support and guidance, both academically and in your career planning, we will allocate you a personal tutor from the GDL course team. We will also encourage you to take part in extra-curricular activities like mooting and interviewing and advising. These will provide you with valuable experience and, for prospective employers, important evidence of your serious commitment to a legal career.
