Creating 'Learning and Development Pathways'

At the Knowledge Transfer Networks we are able to provide rounded solutions to business needs, at any stage of business or product lifecycle and we offer a chance at real connectivity within a Network; a chance to build aspirations and be inspired by ideas, but also build the capacity for those ideas to be realised. We can build a Learning and Development Pathway to answer any question from your business. A Learning and Development pathway can include a mix of the methods below with, for example, workshops or training developed specifically for your business or simply places bought for your business on existing workshops in presentation. The mix of methods and delivery we can provide are very flexible indeed. It also means you are able to tailor a development programme to your needs at a cost you can afford. In some areas we may be able to provide you with public funding for a whole or part of a pathway.

Our programmes contain a mix of:

  • New connections, friends and partners in ideas and ventures
  • Coaching/Mentoring and relationship management from University of Bradford Advisors - the focus being to make sure new knowledge is being embed in the business and to look for links with additional funding and products for business such as student projects, placements and summer experience through to more substantial Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
  • Master-classes and Networking- Practioners and academics speaking on given topics structuring lively debate and questions- followed by networking around the issue.
  • Facilitated Group work: This is a process of small group working where peer directors offer structured questioning to help a fellow director unpack a problem or opportunity and build up a solution and implementation. It's a safe environment to get things off your chest and work out what to do - with constructive help from your peers. Best exemplified by the Director Support Network (check out the DSN pages)
  • Workshops: A very wide range of works covering many subjects (check out the lists)
  • Strategy/Venture Clinics for advice and recommendations.
  • Advice: Mentoring or facilitation from academics or practioners in the Network where necessary.

The diagram below shows just how we might be able to help create this pathway - members might be roamers or knowledge nomads who just move through events and activities at their own pace occasionally, asking for advice or pointers. That pointing may be more formal hand-holding with a relationship manager engaged to track and mentor through connections and activity. Some people may want to sit down and work with an advisor or consultant to draw up a pathway; others may put together their own ideas and plans and want to discuss them with a panel or with experts in a clinic format. The methods are many and varied but what is important is that the content is created in your terms to answer your questions - the appropriate starting point may be the key to this whether it's a gentle stroll into ideas or a consultative relationship.

If you are interested in developing a pathway drop us a line and we will arrange for someone to visit. Make an enquiry or to discuss call 01274 235676 or e-mail: KTnetwork@bradford.ac.uk
