Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
What is a KTP?
Part subsidised by a Government grant, KTPs allow your company to draw on our expertise in supporting a key development project whilst helping able graduates to further their own managerial skills development. We expect a KTP to have a direct impact upon the bottom line.
What are the benefits?
- Expert School of Management skills and knowledge will be applied directly to key areas of your business, leading to product, process and management improvements.
- You will have made an important long term investment in your company's future by attracting and developing able graduates.
- You will see profitable returns from your completed KTP project(s), plus the potential for future progress.
The KTP Process
1. Identify a development area that is strategically important to your company's future, but requires additional skills and knowledge. Areas on which previous clients have focused include:
- Marketing
- Operations
- Finance
- Human Resources
- E-commerce
- International Commerce
- Strategy & Change
2. Think about and discuss the outputs your organization requires from the KTP, and your deadlines. Together with a KTP consultant, we will evaluate whether the KTP route is suitable and we will help you to identify the supporting academic who can give you the best support.
3. Then we will help both your company and your chosen academic partner to draw up a project plan that will form the basis of an application for a KTP grant.
4. Once the grant has been awarded, we will help you to recruit someone to work in your company from a pool of exceptionally talented young graduates. The contract is flexible and can range from one to three years, to best suit your needs.
5. The project work will be designed to realise your commercial objectives and will be jointly supervised by in-company staff and your academic specialist.
How much is a KTP worth?
The size of the KTP package will depend upon whether you choose a one, two or three-year KTP. A typical two-year KTP for an SME (organization employing less than 250 people) would total £80,000.
The organization engaged would contribute £18,400 a year and the government grant would be worth £48,000 over two years. This covers:
- A graduate salary (up to £20,000)
- Personal and technical training
- Equipment (such as a personal computer)
- Travel
- Academic input
