Bradford Guest Lecture Series 2011-12

Semester 2

Every semester the school invites guest speakers to present on a range of topics. Some of the speakers are alumni, who are happy to return to the school to share their experiences, and others will be experts in a particular field who will provide detailed understanding of a specific area. These topics are not just about economic issues and management but ideas that will really get you bitten by the knowledge bug and get you thinking. It's a real chance to get to network with businesses and for businesses to meet some of the cream of the crop in the UK education system. The bar at Heaton Mount will be open after the talks to let the mingling commence.

As well as inviting current students on the MBA, MSc and undergraduate degrees we also invite our rich Alumni network, selected local and regional businesses and the membership of our Knowledge Transfer Networks. These are fantastic networking opportunities and we would recommend that you join this vibrant community at one of the UK's premier business schools.

Please note you will need to arrive at 6.15 to register for a 6.30 start.

For further information please contact Joanne Christie at the Knowledge Transfer Networks on j.christie@bradford.ac.uk or call on 01274 235676 and to request a place at this event please use the booking form below.

Tim Yeardley
Managing Director
Mnemosyne Training

“Management training: a cure or a curse?”

“UK managers usually fail to get the core skills training they need and the training they do receive appears to be ineffective. This is having a disastrous impact on managerial careers, on the teams they lead and ultimately, the bottom line”. For example, is the management ‘v’ leadership debate now so polarised it is having a divisive effect?

What are the issues with management training, and what are the remedies?

The speaker, Timothy Yeardley MBA MCIM DipM LL.B, has produced an award winning research paper into management core skills and is presently in discussion with the CIPD, with respect to business management skills policy in the UK. He studied his MBA at Bradford University School of Management from 2005 to 2007.
