The Nature of 'Engaging Leadership' and its Effect on Productivity, Morale and Well-being - Professor Beverly Alimo Metcalf
In this session we shall look at the reason why employee engagement is so critical to organizations and Beverly's original research into the nature of engaging leadership, and her more recent longitudinal study which found evidence of its causal relationship to productivity, morale, and well-being in teams. She will also describe how she and colleagues have applied this and related research to major cultural transformation projects in large organizations.

Valuing intergenerational sustainability and energy projects - Professor Mark Freeman
The session will review Mark's recent research looking at how net present value techniques can be applied to intergenerational projects. This is of direct to relevance to managers involved in evaluating the economic attractiveness of the proposed new generation of nuclear power stations and those undertaking long term environmental sustainability projects. It also addresses some of the most pressing problems facing policy makers who must decide on the urgency of implementing carbon dioxide emissions abatement programmes in response to the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change
