AIMS

i) To consider the impact of international finance in the business world

Outline Syllabus

  • Introduction to the markets.
  • International parity conditions.
  • Currency forecasting.
  • Market segmentation vs globalisation.
  • Managing and measuring foreign exchange exposure.
  • Evaluation of hedging strategies.
  • Foreign investment decision: foreign direct investment, international capital budgeting, foreign portfolio investment.
  • Recent trends in direct and portfolio investment.

MODULE COORDINATOR(S)

Professor Roger Adkins
Roger joined the School of Management in 2011. Previously, he held an academic post at the Salford University Business School, following appointments in Tanzania at the Universities of Dar es Salaam and Mzumbe. He graduated with a PhD in Accounting and Finance at Manchester Business School, University of Manchester.

Dr Nisih Freeman
Dr Nisih Freeman has an MSc (distinction) in Finance and Investments and a PhD in Finance, both from Exeter University Business School. Nisih has diverse experience in both industry and academia. She is currently the module leader for Financial Modelling and Advanced Financial Modelling modules for the MSc in Finance. She also teaches part of an MBA module on Capital Markets and Investment Management. Her industry experience includes working for the largest retailer in Indonesia as an Investor Relationship Manager as well as working for a Belgian bank within a corporate lending team'.
