Gaining a masters degree in International Business and Management from Bradford School of Management helped Jorrit Pier Eringa, aged 24, to secure a prestigious role with Google.

"After finishing my degree in 2006, I joined Google in Dublin, Ireland. I am currently working as an account manager for the online advertising programme AdWords where I support our Benelux accounts. I work with various specialists to support my customers and advise them on opportunities in their specific market. For example, I advise customers in the travel sector on the Google products and features specific to their market and guide them on how to get the best return on investment. This required me to become an expert on online advertising and the industry specifics of my customers. In addition to my core role, I am also involved in customer satisfaction research for the Benelux," explained Jorrit, who hails from The Netherlands.

"My masters helped me to gain extra relevant experience for my current position at Google. I was not only better able to demonstrate that I gained a better academic grounding, but I was also better able to show my analytical and team working skills. I did not only gain these skills during my course, but also in my role as a student representative.

"I found the postgraduate career service at the University very useful. Their advice and workshops helped me during the application process at Google.

"The student body of the School of Management is very international. Furthermore, there is a strong emphasis on teamwork during the course, which gave me the opportunity to work with students from different nationalities. I found this extremely beneficial in my current position, since I am working in a team on a portfolio of accounts and many of colleagues are international.

"During my first degree in Marketing Management, I specialised in the field of international marketing and I became more interested in the field of international business and wanted broaden my knowledge of this subject. Moreover, I wanted to study aboard, because I really enjoyed my Erasmus exchange in Oslo, Norway. In addition, it was an opportunity to live in a different country and experience a different culture. I picked the School of Management's International Business and Management programme, because of the School's excellent reputation and because it offered a wide range of electives.

"There is a good mix of theory and practice on this degree. I especially enjoyed working on interesting assignments. Moreover, I had some excellent lecturers and professors, who were very enthusiastic about their subject.
