Khelifa holds a BSc in marketing from the University of Algeria, an MSc in international banking and finance from the University of Salford, and a PhD from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. He joined the School of Management in September 2007, following previous full-time academic appointments at Aston Business School and Portsmouth Business School.

Teaching: Khelifa's teaching interests include corporate finance, valuation of investments, derivatives and risk management.

Professional associations:

Khelifa is a member of the Asian Finance Association.

Research interests:

Khelifa's research interests include the interactions between derivatives and equity markets, unit initial public offerings, market efficiency and anomalies, and the shape of the demand curve. Khelifa has published in a number of internationally recognised academic journals.

Research projects:

Khelifa is currently working on:

  • Derivative trading and the price reaction to foreign exchange movements
  • Warrants in IPOs: evidence from Hong Kong
  • The short-term price reaction to shocks
  • The role of lock-in agreements in the Hong Kong IPO market
