Axèle
studied at the Sorbonne University in Paris for her pre-doctoral diploma
in international economics, which she obtained with distinction in 1994.
She was then awarded a special research grant by the French Ministry of
Higher Education to join the Bradford School of Management research team,
and was awarded her PhD from Bradford. She has been carrying out research
in the international business area, and has successfully completed several
research projects, some on her own, some with colleagues in the UK and
abroad. She is now a lecturer in international business at the School
of Management. She has published two books and several articles, and taken
part in many conferences in the international business field. Axèle
is currently a key researcher on a project financed by the British Department
for International Development, looking at globalisation, foreign direct
investment, regional integration and poverty reduction in ASEAN, the Association
of South-East Asian Nations.

Active member of the Asia-Pacific Business Research Unit, based at the University of Bradford. Among other research projects, the research unit was required by ASEAN to examine foreign direct investment flows in ASEAN countries, in preparation for the ASEAN investment area. |

interests:

Axèle has been involved in numerous research projects centred on the activities and strategies of foreign companies in Asia. Particular research angles are the inter-firm relationships established by foreign firms in host economies and the subsequent impact on host countries' economic development. |

Research
projects:

"Regionalisation, Foreign Direct Investment and Spillover Effects: the case of ASEAN", with Professor Hafiz Mirza and in collaboration with ISEAS (Singapore). Project funded by the UK Department for International Development. "Foreign Companies and the Upgrading of Technological Competencies in Asian Economies", with data gathered between September 1999 and April 2001, and a report with Professor Mirza for the Research Institute for Development and Finance, part of the Japan Bank for International Co-operation which funded the project. Other completed research projects include "Backward Linkages between Foreign Subsidiaries and their Local Suppliers in the Electrical and Electronics Sector", "A Comprehensive Survey of Foreign Direct Investment into and within ASEAN", and "Hierarchy of Foreign Direct Investment in South-East Asia: the Textiles Sector in Indonesia". |
