Your Personal Safety

Accidents and Injuries

If you have an accident or injury in any area of Learner Support Services, contact a member of staff immediately. If necessary they will summon first aid. Outside normal opening hours contact Security immediately (4499). All accidents to staff, students or visitors must be reported and an accident form completed in each case.

Eating, Drinking and Smoking

Only cold drinks in sports bottles are allowed on Floors 1, 2 and 02 in the JB Priestley Building. Eating is not allowed in these areas. It is permissible to consume cold food and any non-alcoholic drink on Floors 0 and 01. Please dispose of remnants and empty bottles and cans etc in the recycling bins provided. Smoking is not allowed in any building.

Lifts

In the event of a fire alarm sounding in J B Priestley building, the lift must not be used. If you have mobility difficulties and are on the upper floor in the building make your way to the Main Staircase and wait for help. The Library is equipped with an emergency evacuation chair to aid rapid dispersal.

If you feel unsafe at any time, send a text message to:

SECURITEXT on 07909 792405.

Your text will be received in the University Security Control Room and action, where and when required, can be immediately taken to help you. ALL information received will be treated with respect and in confidence.  Please make sure you provide all the details we will need to help you.

Thefts

Never leave handbags or wallets unattended, even for a few minutes. Keep your possessions close to you at all times. Report any case of theft to the Learning Support staff immediately: they will call the security service.

Unreasonable Behaviour

Any suspicious or unreasonable behaviour should be reported immediately to Learning Support Staff who will take action.

Users must not cause any unnecessary noise or disturbance to others or use facilities in a way that results in a degradation or disruption of the service to others. If your work is being disrupted in public cluster rooms by noise from other users, please email:

abuse@bradford.ac.uk

quoting the date, time and PC number being used by the offender(s).

The transmission, storage, promotion or display of offensive, defamatory or harassing material is strictly forbidden unless authorised exceptionally for legal academic purpose. In such cases the user must obtain prior written authority from the University and all appropriate external bodies and must comply with any conditions imposed.
