Working Off Site

This page provides information about, and links to, the various tools available for helping staff to work outside the office when the need arises. Please note that there is currently no 'working from home' policy. Any requests to do so must be directed to line managers for discussion.

Keeping in Touch and Up to Date

• Webmail - web based email. If you have Outlook on your device, you can also set up Outlook to get your University emails.
  (Help with using Outlook or Webmail).
• Meeting Maker - online access to your calendar.
• Contacts list - email addresses and phone numbers. You can also use the mobile friendly version when you're out and about.
• Service status - find out which services may not be running.
• Blackboard IM - instant messaging service (click on the 'Blackboard IM' tab once you're logged into Blackboard to install).
• Internal home page - for urgent news during working hours.
• Twitter - University of Bradford Communications.

Remote Access to Files and Applications

• Sun Global Desktop (SGD) - access to Microsoft Office, Meeting Maker, SAINT, G and H drives and more. A user guide is available once you've clicked on the SGD link. (We welcome feedback).
• Novell NetStorage or FTP - access to departmental network drives. The username and password are those you would normally use to access your departmental network. This does not apply to staff in Informatics and Engineering - please contact your local IT support.
