Changes to IT services for Staff
Windows 7 and Office 2010
Staff PCs supported by Learner Support Services will be upgraded to run
Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 from March 2012.
Staff from the IT Services department will visit your area to do the upgrade
for you (please do not attempt to upgrade the software yourself).
In order for this to happen, IT Services staff will approach IT
representatives within Schools and Departments to discuss a timeframe for
the upgrades to take place.
Once this has been agreed, you will receive an email from
ICT Servicedesk 3 weeks prior to the upgrade taking place,
including:
- A short form for you to submit,
- Details about backing up files,
- Details of learning opportunities.
In the meantime, to gain an insight into the new software, you may wish to
view our tutorials and user guides.
Frequently asked questions
Please see our frequently asked questions about the upgrade.
If you have any immediate concerns, please contact ICT Servicedesk.
Student email accounts
IT Services are pleased to announce that the new student email service Outlook Live has now gone live. Staff should note that:
- New students (from 21 July 2011) will now have an email address which is is the format 'initials.surname@student.bradford.ac.uk'. Please encourage students to complete the pre-enrolment process, as they will not get email unless they do so.
- Returning students will be able to request a new Outlook Live email account as they re-enrol.
- New emails addressed to previous students' email accounts will be forwarded at least until the end of the academic year (2011-2012).
- The most up to date email addresses for students will continue to be available on the University contacts page and in SAINT.
- All centrally provided student services, including Blackboard, will have the email information updated automatically as students request their new accounts. Local applications that hold email addresses will not be changed - eg, an individual's spreadsheet or an individual's personally created email distribution list in Outlook.
