Dr S.J. Wright donated to the J.B. Priestley Library a set of the research reports generated by the Pressurised Fluidised-Bed Combustion Project, which was based in the Experimental Facility at Grimethorpe (near Barnsley, South Yorkshire). The collection also includes relevant conference proceedings and reports.
The Project aimed to provide a facility for investigating pressurised fluidised-bed combustion (PFBC) systems under different operating conditions. The facility became operational in 1980 and for the next 12 years produced valuable experimental data for three phases of experiments : under the International Energy Agency, then the National Coal Board and Central Electricity Generating Board and finally the Grimethorpe Topping Cycle project.
