University of Bradford >> Library >> Special Collections >> The Fred Robinson Butterfield Collection
This collection comprises albums of negatives and prints of photographs taken by Fred Robinson Butterfield. Mr Butterfield was born in Keighley in 1905, and, as a keen cyclist, was first Secretary of the Keighley Road Club, of which he later became an honorary member. The photographs, mainly taken in the 1920s and 1930s, show the beautiful scenery and changing seasons of the Yorkshire Dales. Malham was a particularly popular Sunday run for the Club. The collection also includes many images of towns and beauty spots throughout Yorkshire.
Mr Butterfield served with the Royal Air Force in the Far East during the Second World War, returning in 1946 to his home in Farnhill. He died in 1999.
